NEW FACES: The X2 Hot features a revised Hyper Speed face on what is Callaway’s fastest, thinnest all-titanium driver. The Advanced OptiFit Hosel was set to add a degree of loft (to 10°) with the lie angle setting kept neutral. MODEL AND SHAFT PLAYED: Callaway X2 Hot driver fitted with a stiff-flex graphite shaft. I just put my inconsistency with it down to the shaft. The clubface is hot but I’d like to have my shaft in the X2 Hot and make the comparison.Įvery good hit felt fine – good for contact, accuracy, trajectory and length. However, I battled with that shaft to get my transition right and find a solid impact position. When I did that and achieved a good impact position the length and flight were fine. When I ‘caught’ it and put a good swing on it, the ball just sailed – it was really long.
VERDICT: The feel off the clubface of the X2 Hot is very solid and strong. The adjustability is good to have, although you might need more time than I’ve got with this club to work out your ideal combination of settings. It sets up at address well but I suspect the shaft is a little whippier than I am used to. FORGIVING HEADS: An improved clubhead shape and construction generates faster ball speed on drives struck in the sweet spot and outside it.įIRST IMPRESSIONS: I love the look and feel of the driver – especially the grey colouring, the crown shape and the markings around the outside to help promote good alignment.
